Company History

Mortgage Assist (Pty) Ltd began business as a bond origination company in August 2002, founded by Jan de Beer, the director.  Jan has 20 years experience in the property market as a conveyancing attorney with Wilsenach van Wyk Goosen & Bekker (Pty) Ltd Attorneys in Pretoria.  He is personally involved in the day-to-day management and operations of Mortgage Assist (Pty) Ltd, enabling him to continously improve and grow the business.

Mortgage Assist (Pty) Ltd’s head office is situated in Glen Gables Office Block, in Lynnwood in the east of Pretoria, with branches in Pretoria North and Johannesburg.  Although we are based in Gauteng, our consultants arrange finance for clients nationwide. 

Mortgage Assist (Pty) Ltd employs 13 full time consultants and 6 administrative staff members.

All our consultants and admin staff are hand-picked from the banking industry, with banking experience in homeloans ranging from 10 years to as much as 30 years.  They have extensive knowledge and experience in the securing of property transactions and bond finance, as well as an in-depth understanding of credit assessment, products and processes of the various banks.  Each consultant operates as their own “business” within Mortgage Assist (Pty) Ltd, each having their own network of clients and lead-providers from which their business is generated.   Mortgage Assist (Pty) Ltd’s network of lead-providers consists of various participants in the property market ranging from estate agents, property developers, attorneys, accounting firms and existing clients. 

Our highly competent, skilled support staff has mastered the systems and processes with the various role-players in the business to free up the consultants, so that they can provide personalised, professional service to each and every client.   We have the systems in place to do electronic submissions to the various banks, draw the necessary credit reports, property and company searches to enable us to provide the banks with the latest accurate information for every application we submit.

We have excellent business partnerships with attorneys, which enable us to provide our clients with access to legal advice regarding property transactions and to negotiate special rates for them on bond and transfer fees.

Mortgage Assist (Pty) Ltd currently has origination agreements Absa, First National Bank, Standard Bank, Nedbank and Old Mutual Bank.  We currently submit home loan applications to the value of R80 million per month to the various banks.

Our mission is to ‘delight’ our clients and lead providers with the best possible “hassle-free” option available in securing their homeloan finance.

Consultants

Lynette Bowden

Lynnette has 11 years' experience at Saambou Bank and has also passed the Estate Agents Examination. She has three years' experience as a bond originator.

Anel Burns

Anel has nine years' experience with ABSA, Betterbond and Wizard. Customer satisfaction is one of her priorities and she believes in rendering services even after she has secured your bond.

Ingrid de Villiers

Ingrid worked with the Nedbank Group for 23 years and has worked as bond originator for five years. She also qualified as an Estate Agent with a C E  A certificate. She has a Diploma in Bank Credit Management and Asset Based Finance (Damelin).

Attie Els

With 40 years' experience in NBS and Barclays Bank, Attie specialises in commercial property and the financing thereof.

“I am a sports enthusiast – I played provincial cricket and have represented Gauteng North and South Africa in over-40 action cricket. I'm a grandfather of three with a fourth grand child due.”

Elrie Holtzhausen

Elrie worked with ABSA for 10 years and as a bond originator for five years. She is good at problem solving, with many years' experience in home loans and is client service orientated.

Almarie Lubbe

Almarie worked with Perm/Old Mutual Bank for 22 years, first in Kimberley, then Alberton and finally in Pretoria (three months acting as Branch Manager). She has been under the top 15 sales consultants in the country for the last two years and views application as a challenge. She holds a National Diploma in Marketing and Sales Management (Free State Technikon) and a National Diploma in Management (Technikon SA).

Christa Ryder-Smit

Christa has 13 years' banking experience. She worked with Volkskas Bank for seven years as Credit Manager in Home and Micro Loans and also as Branch Manager. She also worked with ABSA for four years as home loans consultant and was chosen as home loans consultant of the year in 2002 and 2003.

Marlene Steenkamp

Marlene has 11 years' experience with ABSA, of which the last five years as an ABSA Broker. She also holds a B Prim Ed degree from the University of Pretoria. She has good experience in estate planning, long- and short term insurance, retirement, investments and income tax.

Katryn Snyman

Katryn has been working in the property industry for the past 14 years, first as a homeloan consultant in the bank and later as a Regional Manager for a well known origination company. She has a credit diploma with Damelin.
